How to Learn to Automate Excel with Macros and VBA the Easy Way

Stop wasting time. Stop feeling overwhelmed. Stop following dead ends and failing learning strategies.

This is the best and most effective way to start automating Excel with macros and VBA.

No other Excel macro and VBA Course on the market today – at any price – arms you with the same conceptual and practical knowledge about Excel macros and VBA.

You will quickly gain practical experience by creating, and working with, powerful and practical macros so you can automate Excel, save time for the things that really matter to you, and open new career opportunities.

Do You Want to Automate Excel?

Have you ever wanted to automate Excel, but never learned how to work with macros and VBA?

Have you ever thought that only "certain" people can master Excel macros and VBA? Or that you will never be able to learn macros and VBA because you have no previous programming experience?

Have you tried learning how to work with macros and VBA, only to feel overwhelmed and give up?

Have you ever followed a training program about macros and VBA, only to find out that you're not able to apply the knowledge you (supposedly) gained to automate the process you want?

If so, you're not alone!

"I want to learn about macros because I believe it will save me and my teammates a lot of time in our daily work routine. I have learnt to use [E]xcel formulas but I want to go further and learn about macros and [VBA], however I have no knowledge of programming language."

- Agustina L., Argentina

"I am quite familiar with Excel but there are some aspects of the macros I cannot grasp or understand."

- Albert Z., Malta

Hi, I'm J

I'm the creator of Power Spreadsheets.

I've been working with, and teaching about, Excel, Macros and VBA for several years.

However, prior to mastering macros and VBA several years ago, I also faced common self-limiting beliefs and doubts. I thought that I would never be able to learn how to program and that only "certain" people could master macros and VBA.

My own experience showed me this was wrong. Despite coming from a non-technical background and having no programming experience, I mastered Excel macros and VBA.

I'll be the first to admit that learning macros and VBA wasn't easy. Basically, I took the long painful route and invested thousands of hours reading books and blogs, watching video lessons, and visiting online forums.

This trial and error approach was flawed. It made the experience difficult and less fulfilling.

It's true that, in the end, I achieved my objective: I mastered macros and VBA. However, it's also true that I could've been much more effective. I could've achieved the same objective in less time, with less effort, and by spending less money.

"Thanks for the introduction about you and [E]xcel. Your life experience is spot on and very inspiring."

- Leza W., Canada

Traditional Excel Macro and VBA Training Methods Don't Work

Over the last few years, I've helped thousands of people learn how to automate Excel with macros and VBA.

During these years, I've noticed that almost all students (or potential students) of macros and VBA face similar challenges and obstacles.

Most of these people fall in one of 3 camps:

  1. They (wrongly) believe that mastering macros and VBA is very difficult and that they'll never be able to learn how to work with them.
  2. They've tried to learn about macros and VBA before. But the training materials they used were so overwhelming and confusing that they gave up.
  3. They've studied macros and VBA before. But, when trying to implement what they were supposed to have learned, they faced practical challenges and were not able to appropriately automate Excel.

In my opinion, this isn't surprising. I experienced these same thoughts and challenges when I started learning about Excel macros and VBA several years ago.

Unfortunately, most books and courses available in the market take approaches that aren't suited for Excel macro and VBA beginners. The experience of most students with these training materials usually falls in one of the following 2:

  • Some of these training materials try to cram too much content too fast. Therefore, they dive into relatively advanced programming topics too quickly and without building a solid knowledge foundation first. The result of this approach is, usually, burned out students who drop out or give up because they're completely overwhelmed, unable to follow the pace or adequately understand the topic taught.
  • In other cases, students complete the course or book but later face challenges when trying to implement what they're supposed to have learned. In other words, the training materials fail to provide a solid knowledge foundation that can be put into practice.

"[I] have tried to learn VBA for years. Every time I felt I was advancing I ran into a roadblock."

- Carl E., USA

You're Still Expected to Know How to Work with Macros and VBA

Traditional Excel macro and VBA training may not be effective. However, in today's professional environment, you're expected to know your way around Excel. This includes knowing how to work with macros and VBA.

"My company uses Excel and macros but someone else always has to edit them. I want to be able to take that over and make them more flexible for the jobs we need to have done."

- Mai G., USA

"As a casual user of [E]xcel I recently worked on a project that required macros and found I was seriously disadvantaged. I therefore decided I would have a go at learning to create macros. Am grateful I found your tutorials (...)."

- Marcus R., Australia

"Currently, [I] use macros in my office to automate reports.... but the demands [are getting higher so [I] need to improve my knowledge"

- Ganiyu B., UK

Practice What You Learn

Retain more of what you learn, and at a deeper level.

Many students and professionals find that they learn the fastest when they put what they learn into practical action. So I've made it easier for you to include a healthy dose of practice to help you build your Excel macro and VBA expertise.

Studies (including studies published in the journal Science) have shown that students learn more (and at a deeper level) by practicing and recalling the materials than by using any other approach. In other words, you're much more likely to retain what you learn by doing it (putting it into practice).

Excel Macros for Beginners contains a substantial practical component. Throughout the Course, you're constantly putting in practice the concepts, processes and strategies you learn about. For these purposes, you'll find and work with different exercises and examples.

In addition to creating your first macros (if you haven't created macros before), you'll create a simple but very powerful and practical VBA Application.

This VBA Application helps you automate the process of cleaning up, formatting and organizing certain source data that is badly formatted and organized. The source data you deal with in the practice lessons of Excel Macros for Beginners has, among others, the following problems:

  • All data is grouped in column A of the worksheet;
  • There are no headers; and
  • Values aren't appropriately formatted.

The VBA Application you create in the Course does the following:

  1. Creates a destination workbook for the source data.
  2. Adds column headers to the destination workbook.
  3. Organizes the source data by separating it into the appropriate fields.
  4. Transfers the source data to the new table in the destination workbook.
  5. Adds formulas to the table in the destination workbook.
  6. Appropriately formats numbers.
  7. Saves the organized table as both an Excel workbook and a PDF file.
  8. Closes the destination workbook.

You can easily apply the knowledge, techniques and strategies you apply to tackle this challenge for purposes of dealing with situations in other domains or situations.

"This [is] the example I have tried to find on the web but never could! (...) The macros (...) are wonderful. I've bought many Excel how-to books that seemed to want to focus on Message/Input boxes and making charts- all of which I'm sure are important to some - But just seemed to be fancy window dressing to me. I just wanted to get the work done, not paint it with pretty things. Again, thank you for all your help!"

- Carl E., USA

"I have newly started VBA & your VBA codes for beginner playing a vital role."

A Simple Choice... Start Working with Macros and VBA Now

Macros and VBA changed my career and my life, and I know they can change yours too. Macros and VBA allow you automate tasks in Excel, save time and become more efficient at work.

You can take the long and painful route to mastering macros and VBA by spending hundreds or thousands of hours following ineffective approaches or methods.

I've been there. I've read the books, tutorials and blogs. I've watched the videos. I've visited the discussion forums. I've struggled and seen thousands of smart hard-working people (just like you) struggle and waste time by following the wrong process for learning about macros and VBA.

You don't have to do the same mistakes I (and thousands of others) did.

I believe you can easily master Excel macros and VBA. You just need to follow the right approach and method.

During the years I've spent writing and teaching about Excel macros and VBA, I've identified the approaches and processes that work best for effective learning purposes. Excel Macros for Beginners holds your hand through all the hard parts, including setting up Excel, learning how to create macros, learning how to understand and edit your macros, and getting your macros ready for use.

I other words, I walk you step-by-step through the entire process of starting to create Excel macros. You'll be supported directly by me.

I know that, if you're ready to learn how to harness the power of macros and VBA to save time, become more efficient and advance your career, you'll make the right choice.
